|Me & Bo Bo|
|Bo Bo in NC|
Bo Bo lived a good long life with us. Sometime after he died, another cat happened into my life. This was a female stray that just wandered up. We named her Sarah. My sister, Jennifer, suggested that this little cat was a Wandering Sarah. There was a short story that had recently been in Redbook magazine with the title “Little Wandering Sarah”. The story was about a 2 year old girl that just kept wandering off from her mother and getting lost.
Not long after Sarah came to live with us she ended up getting pregnant. We kept two of the kittens. One was a female Bo Bo cat. –yes, we named her Bo Bo.
My Dad was totally cool, and tried to give me almost everything I asked for. –Though sometimes he missed the mark a little…Like the time I asked for a lamb. I got a goat. A great big Nanny Goat. I don’t know her breed. We named her Nanny (how creative). She needed to be milked like a cow. She had horns and sometimes got too aggressive…but for the most part was really cool. We kept her at my Grandmother’s house, which was really close to our house. I remember when my Dad was bringing me to see the new pet..and I could hear her “bahhhh”…which, turned out to be why he thought it would substitute for a lamb.
Like all young girls, my sisters and I wanted a horse…so true to form, Dad got us a Pony! She was a Shetland Pony named Pearl. My grandparents had a barn that we housed her in, and a large pasture…On weekends we went to ride her. We rode Western Style. Each of us got our turn. She was a wonderful sweet, gentle pony. –There was one surprise. She was pregnant! So we ended up with a colt too! His name was Danny. He was a biter, which kind of made us not enjoy ponies anymore.
